DLC joined 18 national health organizations urging the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to give people with diabetes equal priority for the COVID-19 vaccine.Under current CDC vaccine rollout guidelines, T1D is on a lower priority level than T2D, even though people with either form of diabetes are at similar risk for severe illness from COVID-19.JDRF has led the effort to raise awareness and share research on COVID risk and outcomes for the T1D community. There are a number of helpful resources on the JDRF website.Now DLC and DPAC are helping grassroots advocates take their message to state governors, urging them to raise the vaccine priority for people with T1D.
